Jeffrey Dahmer, also known as The Milwaukee Cannibal, was responsible for the deaths of 17 men and boys. Jeffrey Dahmer was a serial sex offender and murderer who was active between 1978 to 1991.

Early in his life Dahmer was often neglected by his parents. While his father, Lionel Herbert Dahmer, was studying at chemisty at Marquette University, Dahmer was left with his mother. Reports vary wildy as some people claim that his mother was a difficult person who would take to her bed for attention. However, there are many other reports that suggest that Dahmer received plenty of affection from both of his parents.
Young Dahmer became interested in animals and insects. At the age of 4 years old he began collecting dead animals. He would collect bones and store them in preservation jars in a shed. His father taught him how to handle chemicals safely as he believed it was scientific curiosity rather than a morbid interest. It was this misplaced trust in Jeffrey Dahmer from his father, that it was science that his son was interested in, gave Damer the skills to preserve body parts later in his life.
While he was attending high school, he was considered a loner by his peers. He was often seen drinking alcohol during school hours. When he was questioned by another student about his alcohol, he replied it was his “medicine”. It was during high school that Dahmer realised he was gay.
His first attempted attack was on a jogger when he was 18 years old. Dahmer had planned to knock them unconscious and perform sexual acts on his unsuspecting victim. Fortunately for this person, Damer did not get the chance to perform the act as they changed their routine.
His first murder took place three weeks after he had graduated high school in 1978 when he was 18 years old. He lured Steven Hicks, a hitchhiker back to his house and killed him when he tried to leave. He buried the body in a shallow grave but later dug it up to dissolve the flesh in acid and grind the bones to dust with a sledgehammer.
While he was serving in the U.S. Army, he raped another soldier over a 17-month period.
In 1988 he was arrested for a second-degree sexual assault on a young boy. He had offered the 13-year-old boy $50 to pose for nude photos.
Konerak Sinthasomphone was one of Dahmer’s last victims who managed to escape from the killer. He was found naked, bleeding and drugged up on a street corner by witnesses. when they called 911, the 3 officers who responded to the call met Dahmer. Dahmer told the police that the 14 year old boy was his adult lover and they walked them both back to Dahmer’s apartment. The horrified witnesses were 3 three African-American women. The police told the women to “butt out” and “mind their own business”.
Dahmer’s 18th victim, Tracy Edwards, escaped from the apartment and was found by the police. Edwards was wandering the streets with a set of handcuffs dangling from his wrists, claiming he had been drugged. The police decided to investigate the claims and made a horrific discovery at the home of Dahmer.
The New York Daily News ran an article in their paper in 1991 (now available to read online here) about the discovery of Dahmer’s apartment. Neighbours had reported a stench coming from the apartment for months and heard sawing noises “at all hours”. As the police searched the property, they discovered 3 severed heads in the freezer, another head in the refrigerator, preserved skulls, jars containing genitalia, and an extensive gallery of macabre Polaroid photographs of his victims. Most of his victims were African American.
During the end of his murder spree, he admitted that he had gotten swept along with the desire to kill. In his home was an altar that was under construction.
Dr Fred Berlin, a psychiatrist for the defence-
“Mr Dahmer did not feel as though these people were dead because he was still relating to them. He would talk to them, he would cuddle them, he would hold them, he would think about them. He took the skull of somebody he’d killed and kept it in a locker so he could be close and have companionship with it. Nw, that’s very, very sick, but to him it felt as though there was something warm and comforting happening, not that he was doing something terrible and awful.”
Jeffery Dahmer was beaten to death on 28th November 1994 by another inmate. Christopher Scarver claimed that Dahmer was always taunting the other inmates and arranged his food on his plate to look like body parts. Dahmer would often scare guards by getting as close as he could to them and saying “I bite”. Scarver beat Dahmer and another inmate to death while they were working together. Some reports have stated that a steel bar from the gym was used, others state that a broom handle was used. Dahmer’s last words were reportedly, “I don’t care if I live or die. Go ahead and kill me.”

This is a great example that police departments can use in training new recruits on how they should not deal with people, personally today I believe the police do a fantastic job, let’s all be kinder to all races and of course let’s catch the twisted ones sooner than later.
I had some research on my on on Jeffrey Dahmer. It’s like something about him is pulling me and took my attention to study him. I got interested because he started his first murder at the age of 18 and that makes him the youngest murderer (as far as we know) in history. Like any other serial killers Jeff was very open about his deeds and he knew somehow he was very wrong in his actions and he didn’t hide from it. In fact, he asked for the death penalty but he didn’t get it. Ironically he got murdered by a fellow inmate with a weight just like Jeff killed his first victim.
